What happens when the contract expires? The Unions objective is to bargain in good faith a successor agreement with your employer that will be ratified by a majority of members and provide the best benefits and working conditions possible.  

An agreement is not reached before contract expiration, but an extension of the contract is recommended as long as progress in negotiations can be made.

An agreement cannot be reached, the Union has exhausted all of its negotiating possibilities and avenues and the employers force a strike, or initiate a lockout.

What are Health & Welfare Benefits? Health & Welfare benefits refers to Union negotiated plans that include medical coverage, prescription benefits, vision benefits, dental benefits, mental health and dependent coverage, and all other union negotiated coverages.

Health & Welfare Benefits?

The contract negotiated by Local 1442 requires the employer to pay most of the cost of the Health & Welfare Benefits.
Who pays for my Pension? The contract negotiated by Local 1442 requires the employer to pay the entire cost of your pension.
